ONE PENSACOLA

Make a difference, build a healthy community.

Backpack Program

The Backpack Program combats the weekend meal gap for students who might otherwise go hungry. Each Friday, students who are registered in the program are sent home with chicken/tuna salad kits, oatmeal, veggie/fruit cups, shelf stable milk, and breakfast bars. Bags are discreetly put in students’ backpacks to take home. Through our partnership with Manna Food Bank, food is distributed to 16 Escambia County schools each week. Because of Manna’s purchasing power, it only costs $7 per backpack to feed over 560 families during the school year.

A Box of Health

Each Tuesday, our great friends and partners at The Farm, assist us in fueling our mission to make it possible for ONE PENSACOLA to reach over 150 families a month through our Food as Medicine program. Twice a month, each participant receives a 20 pound box of gorgeous, healthy produce which is locally sourced and selected by Sandy Villeaux and Matthew Brown, owners of The Farm Produce Market. With the help of numerous volunteers, each box is carefully packed, put on pallets, picked up by Manna and then distributed to our clinical partners: Health and Hope, Community Health of NW Florida and Ascension.
